The main thing you need to realize up front when doing business with Knight Mfg. is that the shop is a one man operation. I do excellent quality work for a price that is more than fair, and that translates into the shop staying busy most of the time. Two week lead times are fairly normal. And with just me running the shop, the entire operation from answering emails, to aquiring material, to manufacturing and painting the products, to packing and shipping orders has to funnel through one person. Me. And this is difficult to keep up with, especially during peak seasons. There are many times when I'm trying to tend to more people and juggle more jobs than one person can possibly manage. And I am in no position to hire an employee, so patience is a must. Some of you are rushing me with these jobs, and I realize you want to get your order as soon as possible. And I want to get it to you as soon as I can. But worrying me to death over it doesn't speed up the process one bit, it just slows the process down with me having to answer additional emails. I'm much more concerned with doing jobs correctly than doing them quickly anyway. You don't want welding work that is hurriedly slapped together half-ass style, or at least you shouldn't. Everything is hand crafted in Abbeville County, South Carolina by the owner of the company with meticulous attention to detail, so it'll be worth the wait.
October 2022 Update:
Due to ongoing problems with UPS expedited shipping charges, we will no longer be offering expedited shipping as an option. (Next Day Air, 2nd Day Air, and 3 Day Select. It wasn't something we ever did much of to begin with anyway. For those of you who need to know why, suffice it to say that I have lost enough money using these services and an incident recently was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. Everything will be shipped UPS ground or priority mail from this point forward, so please plan accordingly. Besides, I don't have the manpower in the shop to accomodate the frantic rush jobs that almost always accompany expedited shipping in the first place. So plan ahead and order ahead if you are on a deadline.
Also, starting October 1st, the 3% discount when mailing a check or money order will be discontinued. We will still accept money orders as payment, but there is really no savings in this form of payment for me after I've figured my time and gas for extra trips to the bank. We will no longer accept check payments, just money orders or PayPal.
And after thinking about it all this year, I'm going to be forced to raise prices across the board. Is there really any explanation needed for that decision? Literally everything I use to run this business is costing me significantly more, not to mention the increase in the cost of living. Can't absorb these price increases any longer.
Surely you can understand these tough decisions I'm having to make for the business.
